Theodore Medad Pomeroy (December 31, 1824 – March 23, 1905) was an American politician from New York. He served in the House of Representatives as a Republican from 1861 to 1869, and was for a few hours Speaker of the House, from Vice President-elect Schuyler Colfax's resignation on March 3, 1869, until the session was adjourned ''sine die''. ==Life== Pomeroy left politics briefly to become a banker (he had been vice-president and general counsel with American Express in 1868).〔http://bioguide.congress.gov/scripts/biodisplay.pl?index=P000424〕 Pomeroy return to politics as mayor of Auburn, New York from 1875 to 1876,〔http://bioguide.congress.gov/scripts/biodisplay.pl?index=P000424〕 then as a member of the New York State Senate (25th D.) in 1878 and 1879.
